Daisy

Cosplayer from Italy.

Please introduce yourself – what’s your cosplay name, where are you from, how long have you been cosplaying?

I’m Daisy, cosplayer from Italy since 2012!

How did you start cosplaying? What was you first costume?

I kind of started by accident, when I discovered an event near my hometown and decided to go and see what was about! I fell in love and never came back! My first cosplays were Amu Hinamori from Shugo Chara and Perona from One Piece!

Do you have your favorite costume? If yes – what is it and why?

My favorite cosplay is definitely Babydoll from Sucker Punch! I relate to that character a lot and it’s one of my fav movies, even tho the costume is pretty simple! Talking about the crafting, the ones I’ve enjoyed the most were Aloy and Symmetra!

What part of this hobby/life style do you like the most? Why?

The crafting side and the moments during conventions are my favorite parts! I love to create things from scratch and I love to meet new friends and have fun together!

Why cosplay is important for you?

Because it let me express my creativity and dream with my eyes open 🙂

How do you choose characters that you cosplay?

I need to love the character, of course! But also the costume part is important! As a seamstress who studied costume design, I’m really into the making part and the search of the best materials and techniques! Very often, though, I also make very simple costumes just because I really like the character 🙂

Do you have any funny stories or accidents related to cosplay?

I always have fun when it comes to cosplay, so I could tell tons of stories! But one of the funniest is related to WCS, precisely to one night when me, Imriel and the Brazilian Team were in our room rehearsing… while inhaling helium! We sounded like super powerful samurai talking like chipmunks 😀

What would you say for people who thinks that cosplay is pointless waist of time and money?

That everyone in this world has a passion or a habit which could be considered “useless” by other people, so we shouldn’t judge others’ hobbies 🙂

How much time do you usually spend on one costume? What was the longest time you spent on one costume and which costume it was?

Oh, it really depends on the character! There are cosplays that I make in 2 days because maybe they just got casual clothes (such as MJ from Spiderman) and there are very difficult ones that take me from months to 1 year and more (like the two costumes from Pokemon Conquest I made for WCS prelims and finals, or Aloy, which took me 1 full year!)

What would you consider to be the biggest achievement in you cosplay career?

Oh gosh, I don’t know! Surely representing my country at the World Cosplay Summit was the greatest experience, but also “smallest” things such as being complimented by Neil Gaiman for my Delirium cosplay I consider important achievements!

What would you advice or whish for people who want to start cosplaying, but for unknown reasons are afraid or just don’t know where to start?

Oh they don’t need much, just to get a costume (selfmade, a bought one, it doesn’t matter) wear it and go at a con! Meeting new friends and just have fun!

Is there anything else you would like to say?

I really love to travel around the world and meet new people, see new countries and know new cultures! The most exciting thing about cosplaying is that we’re all so different but still united by one big and super cool passion! So I really can’t wait to visit Comic Con Baltics and meet you all <3
