Please introduce yourself – what’s your cosplay name, where are you from, how long have you been cosplaying?

My cosplay name is as imaginative as it gets: Kenny Cosplay Stuff. I’m from the UK and have been cosplaying since the 2^nd half of 2013.

How did you start cosplaying? What was you first costume?

I went to my first convention in London in May of 2013 and I saw all of these people cosplaying. As soon as I got home, I really wanted my own costume and wanted to buy one. I found how they were jaw droppingly expensive and said “well, if people can make them, how hard can it be?”. My first costume is Iron Man because he was my favorite character at the time.

Do you have your favorite costume? If yes – what is it and why?

All of my costumes are my favourite. The reason for that is because each costume, I try to put something different in it and challenging for myself. When I complete it, it’s the best feeling ever. Apart from sex. That always wins.

What part of this hobby/life style do you like the most? Why?

The bit where I get to go to conventions, meet people and get hammered.

Why cosplay is important for you?

Cosplay is a part of my soul. Since I have first been put in touch with the cosplay scene, I have a wall of my most worshipped cospalyers in alphabetical order. Because of my Asian upbringing, I light up kau cim every weekend to thank them for providing prints and other merchandise for me to purchase and to look up to.

How do you choose characters that you cosplay?

I don’t, the characters choose me. When I watch or play something and I really enjoyed it, I just get my head down and start making it.

How much time do you usually spend on one costume? What was the longest time you spent on one costume and which costume it was?

It really depends on what I want to make. I work a full time day job as well so it could be difficult to hit deadlines so I don’t usually set myself deadlines. Sometimes, I have no choice. I’ve done a complex armor build in as little as 3 weeks! That was for the Championship Zed. Riot told me to make it for worlds and it was too good of an opportunity to miss! My longest build was Mech Kha’zix as that look 9 months. I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. I was also experimenting with electronics which added to the total build time. I track all my builds using an online app.

What would you consider to be the biggest achievement in you cosplay carrier?

For my cosplay achievement, competitively, I was lucky enough be placed first in various completions as well as representing the UK at Cosplay World Masters and the European Cosplay Gathering. I was also lucky enough to be picked by Riot Games to show off their new Championship Zed skin at the Worlds Finals in LA.

Do you have any funny stories or accidents related to cosplay?

I nearly pooped myself because it took so long for me to undress. That is quite common.

What would you say for people who thinks that cosplay is pointless waste of time and money?

Short answer: h8trz gon’ h8, po8to gon po8.

Long version: What’s the meaning of life? What’s the point of working so hard and getting money when you just end up rotting in a ditch? I enjoy what I do and I have loads of fun doing it. People collect stamps, others enjoy biking and both can cost a small fortune if you get into it. What hobby do you have and why do you do it?

What would you advice or whish for people who want to start cosplaying, but for unknown reasons are afraid or just don’t know where to start?

Google is your best friend. Don’t be afraid to start. Once you start, you will realize it’s much easier than you think.
