On 2-3 December, prestigious cinema awards nominated and awared Hollywood visual effects experts are coming to Lithuania. Winner of the Oscar Gene Warren Jr. and his son Gene Warren III will share their knowledge from and insights of visual effects creation and they will bring the actual Oscar statue that was awarded for Best Visual Effects in the movie „Terminator 2: Judgement Day“.
Gene Warren Jr. started his career in Hollywood in 1962 when he was 21 years old. After long years in cinema industry he became very famous visual effects supervisor, cinematographer, model maker, sculpturer and stop motion animator. His father Gene Warren Sr. Was also awarded with a first ever Oscar for Visual effects in cinema for a movie „The Time Machine“. „After we changed the studio, we had an optical department but continued to do as much work in camera as we could. Both because it was usually more cost effective and tended to look better. I believe that even today, in the digital age, the above holds true“.
In 1983 he was awarded with Emmy for mini series „Winds of War“. But the biggest recognition of his work was handed to him in 1991. He was awarded with the most prestigious award in the cinema industry – the Oscar for the movie „Terminator 2“. Up until now Gene Warren Jr. is lecturing at USC films school with his son Gene Warren III.
The third representative of the name, Gene Warren III, is continuing his family legacy and works as a visual effects supervisor in Hollywood. He started his career very young and his big brake was „Atilla“ that was filme din Lithuania. After that big Hollywood hits hit Gene III. In an enormous list people can find a lot of known names – „The Expendables „Underworld“, „Underworld Evolution“, „Punisher“, „Hellboy“), „Moonrise Kingdom“ and many more.
Visual effects experts will give one more surprise to the attendees of Comic Con Baltics. For the first time they will bring the actual Oscar statue to Lithuania that was awarded for the best Visual Effects on „Terminator 2 : Judgement Day“.
On 2-3 December in Vilnius, exhibition hall „LITEXPO“, world known experts will share their expereince on creating visual effects, but will also make some workshops and allow everyone to touch the daily life of a visual effects supervisor.
